ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s $800-million effect on B.C.’s economy

 ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ (ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½) not only positively impacts students, but also the local economy – to the tune of more than $827 million.

A recent economic impact study from Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. (EMSI) found that in 2012-13, B.C.’s colleges and their students contributed $7.8 billion in income to the economy, equal to 4.2 per cent of the province’s GDP.  This means that colleges in B.C. have a similar effect on the economy to other major industries like insurance, accommodation and food services.
